For over a decade Luka Perkov has started and managed numerous Free
and Open Source software projects in the field of embedded Linux and
carrier grade networks. Luka founded Sartura, a service-oriented
software company that specializes in embedded networking. As the
company’s CEO, Luka manages an experienced team of software engineers
and manages projects with international companies. He is also a
frequent attendee and speaker at renowned international events.
Telecom and data center ecosystems are traditionally populated with
proprietary platforms that result in vendor lock-in scenarios. As a
company specialized in embedded Linux, we leveraged our expertise to
build a flexible and efficient end-to-end infrastructure that
challenges existing paradigms. The first novelty in our approach comes
with utilizing Open Source technologies to speed up time frames
required to develop features and roll out services. The second novelty
is that all parts of our redefined infrastructure – from CPEs to
backend data center systems – run on power-efficient ARM processors.
Our talk will give an overview of how this infrastructure was built
and how we use it to deliver cost-effective, high-speed and
high-quality network services.

Richard Tang founded Zen (www.zen.co.uk) back in 1995, with the internet in its infancy and just a few thousand pounds in the bank. Today, Zen is a £71m business, providing networking, connectivity, cloud and voice solutions to over 100,000 customers throughout the UK.
But Richard’s founding, people-first, principles remain just as strong today as they did over 23 years ago. Richard believes in a fairer way of doing business, in putting people before profits. And as Zen’s sole shareholder, Richard ensures that these principles will always remain the cornerstone of his business.
